Email of the Day (having nothing, whatsoever, to do with the election)

I'll spare you the whole backstory, but below is an email reply from a longtime customer of our company. I found it both sweet and quite amusing. Enjoy! ;]

I have to process your orders while trying to process these thoughts!

Getting my flirt on

So, I went to a Michael McN* concert with B&T Friday night. Michael is someone whose music I have long been a fan of. I hadn't seen him in years, but had recently discovered, much to my delight, that he was still making music. B&T had met and befriended Michael when he had played at their friend's big b-day shindig recently. The concert was at a small theatre. We sat in the 5th row, where we had a good view of the stage (and of Michael) without being too close. As he played the first couple songs, he seemed to be looking right at me. I could have brushed it off as my imagination (and my ego in need of a bit of a boost), but then T leaned over to comment to me that he seemed to be spending a lot of time "making eye contact with the 5th row." So, I thought, "OK, perhaps it's not just my imagination, and slightly bruised ego desiring a boost." So, cut to the end of the night, after the show... Michael comes over to talk with B&T, says hello to them and then extends his hand out to me, saying, "and you must be the friend from Flip Flop." I tell him that I saw him perform as an opening act in Flip Flop, sometime around 1990, but I couldn't quite recall who it was that he had opened for. So we have this whole back and forth and eventually figure out that it was Shawn Colvin. "But," he says, "that had to have been sometime around 1993-'95."
"Are you sure?" I reply, "because if that's true then I wasn't with the boyfriend I thought I was with at that show." Yes, he was sure. So, B points out that I didn't remember who the headliner was and I apparently didn't remember who my date was, but I remembered Michael. Now I'm blushing, of course, and grateful that the theatre is not well lit. Then Michael reaches over, grabs my left hand (which is down by my side, holding my purse) and lifts it up high enough for him to see that I'm not wearing a ring. (Nice move!) The conversation continues and, once it's determined that B's too tired to stick around for the after party, Michael asks me, "So, am I going to see you again?" I smile coyly and say, "Well I did sign up on your email list."

Time will tell...

"of course" phase 2 > phase 3 (anger begins to mingle with the sadness)

words were so convenient
at the time
said what you could
to get into my mind
and then dismissed me
pushed me aside
as if you were being kind
you were being kind
and, of course
never would have worked
I should have known
it was never meant to be
but, of course
you were only pretending
but, of course
I believed

song was so enchanting
at the time
gave what you could
until you decided
it was just too hard
so you pushed me aside
thinking you were being kind
but you were never kind
and, of course
never would have worked
I should have known
it was never meant to be
but, of course
you were only pretending
but, of course
I believed...

Suzanne, thanks so much for all the beautiful music! Love you! :]
